Edible Ladybugs & Flyers, Oh My!

Book:

The Very Lazy Ladybug is a cute book about a ladybug that is so tired she doesn't even know how to fly. We follow her on her quest to find the perfect place to sleep. Finally, an elephant's sneeze launches her into the air & she has to fly!

Craft: Ladybug Flyers

What You Need:
straw
white paper cut into a small square (I used the bottom of 1 of the Lil Diva's cups but I think smaller would have been even better)
black paper cut into small square - should be big enough to wrap around straw but not more than 1x or it gets to bulky to fly
tape
markers
glue

What To Do:
1. Color the circle (ladybug body) in the color desired.

2. Add dots to the body

3. Wrap black square around straw so there are no holes for air to escape and tape to secure on top. The piece should easily fit on and off the straw - check to see you can blow it off before adding the ladybug body

4. Glue ladybug body to black paper so that it forms ladybug's head (see below)

5. Once ladybug is dry and firmly affixed get ready to fly (blow)!

6. Enjoy! Let the ladybug's fly! :)

Finally, what do you do after you're tired from flying? Refuel w/a snack of course!

Snack - Edible Ladybugs

*These are so easy to make & so fun to eat! The Lil Divas LOVED them!*

What You Need:
Strawberries ( use 1 half for each ladybug you make)
dark seedless grapes
black writing gel (icing)

What To Do:
1. Cute each strawberry in half  (see pic above) - this will be the body
2. Slice in half to make wings - make sure you do not slice all the way up so that it remains one piece
3. Use the black writing gel to add spots (you could also probably use chocolate chips)
4. Use half of a toothpick to attach grape (head) to body - I just let mine sit in front of it as the girls were going to eat it right away anyway.

That's it! Easy right? Yet, such a kid friendly snack.
