Toybox Thursday - Educational Insights Inside Out Lenticular Human Body Poster Review & Giveaway

Who isn't curious about the human body?I have always been amazed at what a well run "machine" the human body is and have always been intrigued by it's layers. Educational Insights Inside Out Lenticular Human Body Poster presents the various layers of the human body in such a fun way! The Lenticular Human Body Poster shifts from two kids (a boy & girl) to their skeletal systems, muscular systems, and organs. 

The Lil Divas and I recently had the opportunity to review  Educational Insights Inside Out Lenticular Human Body Poster. They were mesmerized - watching the different layers over and over again. They are a little young right now to fully appreciate and understand everything depicted in the poster but this will really be useful with them later (and hopefully when I return to the classroom full time). Even though they were under the target age group - they really found this interesting and were amazed to see everything that is under their skin & inside their body. 

The 19"Wx27"H Educational Insights Inside Out Lenticular Human Body Poster is geared for children ages 8-11 years old. The poster arrives packaged in a polybag with a header.


The poster showcases an outside, skeletal, muscular and organ view of two children's body.

Our overall impressions were that this is such a fun and educational poster. It would be perfect for classrooms, homeschool families or any curious children. I have to admit - this one would be cool even for adults and older kids!

They also fit very comfortably.  The Lil Divas have never complained and tell me they fit well. I know they must because as I said they LOVE wearing them even at home and out of the rain.

Toybox Thursday: Educational Insight's KaBAM! Word Building Game Review & Giveaway

I LOVE being able to bring awareness of wonderful products to you -

Thursdays have become of my fave blogging days! :)

Today, I am excited to bring you another fabulously fun learning game
from Educational Insights: KaBAM!

What is KaBAM?

KaBAM! is a quick thinking, head-to-head word building game.

Who Can Play KaBAM?

The recommended ages for KaBAM! are 7 & up

but as you will see below I modified and successfuly played with my 4 & 5 year old.

How Do You Play KaBAM?

Tp play yoevenly divide the card deck between the 2 players or teams and set them down next to each other, face up. Each card features word parts including suffixes, prefixes, single vowels, consonants and dipthongs. In order to win you need to be the FASTEST word builder! To build a word you adding one or more letters to the sets of letters on the cards. Be the 1st to build a "real" word and you win the round.

What's in the Box?

The game includes:
 72 unique 3"W x 5"H cards featuring letter combinations
Instruction Manual

 

Our Thoughts:

Although the game states it is geared for ages 7+ I was able to successfully play with my 4 & 5 year old. They got the "idea" of the game quickly. The problems initially came with forming "real" words but I have to admit they had a great deal of fun trying to make words and the game took on a life of it's own. Lots of giggles were heard as they inevitably formed their fair share of nonsense words. :) 

Personally, I LOVED the game and I can see us playing for years to come! KaBAM! had the Lil Divas reviewing letter sounds and sounding out combinations, brainstorming "correct" letter/sound additions to form words and distinguishing real words from nonsense words.

The Lil Divas had a great time making up the funniest "nonsense" words on purpose. While I admit this may not be the aim of the game it provided me with a wonderful way to check their word awareness and it was the perfect way to adapt the game to their playing level. Whenever we got a combination where we could not think of a real word to use it with - they got to be extra silly and come up with wacky sounding sounds/words to fit it. I enjoyed the playful way they made up these "silly nonsense" words on purpose and most of the time they were able to find "real" words on their own by adding in these sounds! :)

Overall, as a mom and an educator I appreciate that the game promotes phonics and reading, vocabulary expansion and spelling skills in a fun way. It can be used at home or in school. It can be played one-on-one or in teams to help promotoe cooperative play.

The Lil Divas simply found the game FUN! I love when they are able to play with a game and not even realize they are learning or practicing skills that I want to develop.

Toybox Thursday: Ring the Bell Electronic Goal Tracker Review & Giveaway (Ed. Insights)

Toybox Thursday is back from hiatus/vacation &

today I have another great review/giveaway from Educational Insights.

Ring the Bell - the Electronic Goal Tracker!

 

What's in the box?

You basically get a 20" Freestanding goal tracker w/base.

The base must be attached - but it's a simple snap on.

It is also easy to snap off for storage in the box.

The goal tracker is made using a write-on/wipe-off chart for ease & repeated use.

 It includes 4 major milestone markers

(these generate light & sound effects when reached!)

and the attached milestone puck which is easy & simple to move up and down.

Our Thoughts:

The Lil Divas LOVED the lights & sounds the goal tracker makes.

When I first opened it up they easily spent 10-15 mins

making the lights & sounds go off by moving the puck up to the bell! :)

This would obviously be great for a classroom

but it can certainly be equally useful at home.

This would be great for keeping track of books read, chores completed, etc.

Any goal you have with your child can be incorporated

since you get to write the specifics on the tracker yourself.

At our home, we have used marble jars for the girls to encourage specific behaviors.

I can not tell you how many we have broken in the past!

It's both a mess & a safety concern.

This is so much simpler to use!

Right now, I will be using it specifically with the Oldest Diva

to help with her sleeping issues!

For each night of the week she goes to be without a fuss/fight

we will move up the tracker -

until we reach our goal and then she will get a special treat

like being taken out  to her fave local frozen yogurt place!

I think the electronic bell tracker is definitely more "exciting" than our old marble jar.

The lights & sounds make reaching milestones festive - like a mini celebration!
