Family Fun Friday: Lowes Build & Grow Clinics = FREE Family Fun

This past summer I began taking the Lil Divas to Lowe's Build & Grow Clinics. These clinics are free for kids to attend in any Lowe's store. Each child gets to build a FREE wooden project. The projects are fairly easy (I must admit some have been easier than others) and generally geared towards children in 1st thru 5th grade but with a little (adult) help younger children can complete the projects as well.

My Lil Divas (ages 5 and almost 4) have been able to participate in numerous workshops over the past months and have enjoyed building each project. It gives them such a sense of accompliment to construct something on their own. They love to show off their finished products!

Lowes does an excellent job with this FREE community based program for Kids. Each participant/child receives a free apron and safety goggles upon arrival for their first project so that they look like actual Lowes Team Members! It really is a cute addition and my Lil Divas get such a kick out of their aprons.

All participants also receive a project themed patch and a certification of merit upon completion of all projects. The patches must be sewed onto the apron, much like Scout badges, but they are easy to do and the kids certainly love to showcase their finished projects on their aprons.

Lowes Build & Grow Workshops typically take place on the first and fourth Saturday of the month at 10am in Lowes Stores nationwide. You can visit HERE to Sign-up and it makes the process much easier and faster on the morning of the workshop because you do not have to fill out paperwork at the store.

I ahve also heard that some stores fill-up quickly so if you would like to attend it's definitely worth registering online and plan to get there at 10am to ensure your spot! I have personally never had any trouble at our local Lowes but you can call ahead to your local store to find specifics, recommendations or just out how the popular the program is near you.

Have you attended a Lowes Build and Grow Workshop with your child(ren)? What did you think of the experience?

Disney Live! Presents Mickey's Magic Show

Today we took the Lil Divas to see Disney Live! presents Mickey's Magic Show. I am a huge fan of these types of live performances and of course the Disney on Ice shows. I honestly don't know who enjoys them more - me or the Lil Divas?

We had a great time at the show and they had some pretty cool magic tricks which included some fave special guests such as Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, Belle, Gaston, Cinderella & Prince Charming,  The Fairy Godmother, Princess Jasmine, Snow White, the Witch and of course the stars of the show - Mickey, Minnie, Goofy & Donald along with 2 fun Magicians.

I was impressed with the magic and the girls were in complete awe. They could not stop asking "how did they do that?" as Princess Jasmine was levitated in the air, Cinderella's glass slippers appeared from an audience members tennis shoes, two girls were seemingly split in half and put back together weaing each others legs & bottom clothing and so much more.

If the show stops by your town I highly suggest you go see it! It was a wonderful experience.

*Note: this is not a paid or sponsored review. I am merely sharing my personal experience and thoughts with you. Your experience and thoughts may differ.*

Celebrate Dr. Seuss National Storytime Event - 2/26/11

If you have been around for awhile you know I LOVE reading, especially with my girls! I also love FREE kids events! Target is bringing these together for a very special event!

Who Reads? We Read! Dr. Seuss Storytime is a free storytime event taking place on 2/26/11 from 9-11am!

This wonderful event is sponsored by Target, Random House Children's Books and the NEA in support of the NEA's Read Across America.  Read Across America is the nation's largest celebration of children's reading and a fun way to honor Dr. Seuss's birthday.

BTW, Dr. Seuss's birthday is on March  2nd! If you have never visited Seussville.com - it's a great resource for all things Seuss! I highly recommend it!

Enjoy,
