Fine Motor Skill Development

Heart Beading

The Lil Divas strung various colors/types of beads on pipe cleaners

and we turned them into heart shapes.

Scissor Skills - Heart Cutting

The Lil Divas are getting so good with scissors! I was pleasantly suprised that even the Littlest Diva was able to cut really good hearts on her own! We will be using their cut out hearts to make special Valentine's!

I know I over did it with the pictures but I really was impressed and had to share! :)

Heart Patterns

We used both stickers and stamps to work on patterning. We worked on AB, ABC, and ABCD patterns.

Stamp Patterning - again I bought the stamps & stickers from Oriental Trading and it's been a great buy! The Lil Divas have used them ALOT!

SweetTarts Hearts Number Review Activity

For this activity I bought a bag of SweetTarts Hearts (they are my fave!) and then cut out twelve hearts from red constuction paper and numbered them from 1 to 12.

I mixed up the hearts, put them in a pile and turned them upside down.

The Lil Divas took turns picking a card from the top of the pile, identifying the number and placing the correct number of SweetTart Hearts on it.

Of course, they had to eat some after we were all for doing such a great job! :)

The Lil Divas put heart stickers over any pictures that started with the Hh sound.

I also made a

Letter Hh CVC Blend Sheet <--click here for http://www.4shared.com/ file

We used magnetic letters to make various CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant)

Learning Fun - H is for Heart :Writing Activities

With both girls being sick we definitely have not had the usual amount of time or energy to devote to our learning and crafting fun but I thought I'd share some of what we did get to do this week for H is for Heart

I am going to make different posts for Writing, Pre-Reading/Language, Fine Motor and Math.

More to come this weekend as we tackle a quick V is for Valentine! I hate feeling so behind! I had so much planned but guess I will save it for next year! :(

Writing Activities:

To practice the Letter H the girls did some letter hunting, some tracing, do-a-dot stamping and a fun craft where they made the letter Hh out of hearts stickers (they really enjoyed that one!)

Letter Hh Sticker Fun (I ordered a large bag of patterend sticker hearts from Oriental Trading & we have been freely using & enjoying them) For this activity I provided the Lil Divas with a sheet of construction paper on which I had printed large H and h. Then they used heart stickers to form the letters.
